AUGUST 25, 2009

This was the seventh meeting of Skip Crackle Pop. In honor of the historic achievement (psst... there were seven Police Academy movies) I only brought 7"s to spin. Other people brought the vinyl formats that they liked (and there are a lot to like). Together, we showed those people working on laptops who's boss! Tonight was my favorite SCP to date for many reasons:

1) A family (four adults, two children) danced to three or four songs. I mean, they really danced. Their energy was infectious.

2) Two newcomers that I had never met before brought records. This was a huge milestone. When the first person handed his record to me, I almost hugged him (Full Disclosure: I did put both of my hands on his shoulders). It's like all of the advertising that I no longer do is finally working!

3) The mix of LP hits and oddities was perfect. Also, there were so many records brought to tonight's event that I didn't even have to pad my own records into the mix. This thing is starting to write itself.

The set list can be found below, and photos from this meeting can be found here.
